It seems everyone is getting sick right now! While we’re always happy to see you in our Loveland family medicine practice, we’d rather not see you get sick. Here are some helpful tips to keep you healthy during this cold and flu season:

1. Get plenty of rest. Giving your body the chance at the end of the day to recover from the stresses of the day will help your immune system stay strong and fight against any potential invading illnesses.

2. Drink lots of water. Most of us don’t drink enough water on a daily basis, and increasing your water intake can help your system flush out invading germs. Don’t believe that soda and coffee are a good substitute–drinking plain old water is your best best.

3. Wash your hands thoroughly. We know it may seem like common sense, but many people don’t wash their hands often enough or well enough. Scrub your hands with warm water and soap while you sing the happy birthday song in your head. That will make you take the time to really clean your hands properly and avoid spreading germs.

And if you get sick, stay home. Don’t risk infecting your co-workers with your illness and spreading the illness even more. If you are sick for more than a few days, make an appointment with our Loveland family medicine office. We’ll give you the advice you need to get back on your feet sooner, and medication if necessary. You can make an appointment with our office through our website or by giving us a call. Stay healthy this winter, but if you don’t, we’ll be here to help.
