About 795,000 strokes occur in the US every year. You can help save a life by recognizing the symptoms.  Use these techniques to  help you decide if someone is having a stroke or not :

Ask the person to smile and notice if one side of the face droops

Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.  Is the speech slurred or sound strange?

If any of these signs are apparent call 9-1-1
