There is a new breath test for asthma called FeNO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide).  It is the first test that measures airway inflammation.  With this great new tool a physician can determine if a steroid is the correct therapy and what dose is  needed.  If the FeNO levels are high it tells the doctor that the lungs are inflamed and the asthma is out of control.  Your Loveland Family Medicine doctor can help to set up a management plan for treating asthma in you, your kids or your husband.
