There is a blood test used to screen and diagnose diabetes and pre-diabetes.  This test is called hemoglobin A1c.  It gives your physician a good idea of the average amount of glucose in the blood over a few months.  This information can help determine the treatment of diabetes and whether or not you have diabetes.  If you feel your blood sugar level does not stay constant this would be a good test for you.  Your physician can order this test and go over the test results with you.  Also, remember your family physician is also a good resource for your non-life threatening urgent care needs.
